Today, to jump start a disciplined fitness year, I decided to level up and begin a 30-day Challenge: 100 push ups, 100 sit ups, 100 squats every day. That’s how I will start my morning each day this month.
That won’t be ALL I do. That will just be how I START my day.
Today was Day 1 and I have to say, it was far easier than I expected it to be. I may end up doubling the daily count… once I actually get my push ups into better form. We’ll see how easy THAT will be.
I’m recording my daily progress for my own edification, as well as to check/correct my form. I will be posting a fair bit of what I record on my instagram account. While that seems narcissistic (which, to be sure, it IS), it is also inspirational. To me and to others. I know this because friends and readers tell me. I also know this because every day I gain fitness inspiration by scrolling through the Instagram pages of countless others– those who epitomize my fitness ideal and those who are sharing their journey and its struggles. Their sharing has helped me so much on my own road that I know my posts can do the same for others.
Big props to Stani for his ongoing support, advice, and encouragement. I caught the fitness bug from him in 2015; he has such a great way of infecting people around him with his enthusiasm, love of discipline, and invincible will (like his 1 hour wall sit, or his evening jog that just turned into a full marathon length run).
Following in his footsteps, I try to share my fitness passion with others because once you find the joy in the effort, that’s all you need to keep going. So far two others are joining me in the 30-day Challenge. Possibly three. For two of them it won’t be a problem, but for one person, it will take all she’s got to complete half of that…and I hope she does it.
For me, I trust that at the end of 30 days, this routine will continue, and just become my warm up before the REAL training begins…
